2023 Calendar: Environmental Days

Environmental observances and world day campaigns are a great way to raise awareness for a cause that is meaningful to you or your company. This Calendar of Environmental Awareness Days can be used to:

  • Raise awareness for your own corporate sustainability efforts
  • Start your own local campaign
  • Find events you can support in your own community
  • Get ideas for how to take action

For example, you could promote your company’s water conservation efforts on World Water Day or your efforts to reduce emissions on World Ozone Day.  You could also find and team up with organizations in your local community to make a bigger impact.

This calendar includes a short description, event link, and organizing company or foundation, where applicable.  Some of these days have been proclaimed by a state, city, or county, and spread outward.  Some are rooted in tradition or history, and some have come from grassroots organizers to promote a cause. Some even have an unknown origin.

For more sustainability ideas, please check out 50 Sustainability Ideas for the Workplace.

Use the filter tool below to sort by event type (environment, food, animal, health, and safety) and event organizer, where applicable.

If you see an event that needs to be updated or added, please reach out to us. Enjoy!

They pledged their “commitment to present and future generations…to protect and recover snow leopard populations and their fragile habitats for all people to enjoy.” A year later and annually thereafter on October 23, International Snow Leopard Day has been held in order to commemorate the anniversary of the Bishkek Declaration and to create awareness about the snow leopard.

Event Details

World Wildlife Day (WWD) is an opportunity to celebrate the many beautiful and varied forms of wild fauna and flora and to raise awareness of the multitude of benefits that their conservation provides to people. At the same time, the Day reminds us of the urgent need to step up the fight against wildlife crime and human-induced reduction of species, which have wide-ranging economic, environmental and social impacts. Given these various negative effects, Sustainable Development Goal 15 focuses on halting biodiversity loss.

Event Details

Forests are part of your life in more ways than you realize. When we drink a glass of water, write in a notebook, take medicine for a fever or build a house, we do not always make the connection with forests. And yet, these and many other aspects of our lives are linked to forests in one way or another. Forests, their sustainable management and use of resources, including in fragile ecosystems, are key to combating climate change, and to contributing to the prosperity and well-being of current and future generations. Forests also play a crucial role in poverty alleviation and in the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Celebrated every March 21.

CDM Tool has been using ITU for a long time. They have dedicated drivers. Bob our driver knows our company so well, he is able to tell based on our supply's that are used how business is going. He then adjusts so we don't overpay. The best part is that they don't create more work for me. We have never had an issue with lost uniforms.read more
