2018 George L. and George H. Leef Winners Announced
Congratulations to our 2018 George Leef Award winners! Each year we honor two employees that exemplify the core values of ITU AbsorbTech.
2018 George L. Leef Award
The George L. Leef Award honors ITU’s second-generation president from 1965 – 1996. The award goes to an ITU AbsorbTech employee who has played an important role in improving the processes that maintain or build on our leadership position.
This year’s George L. Leef Award goes to Jeff Miller.

(David Leef, Jeff Miller, Jim Leef)
Jeff Miller is the Regional District Manager working out of the Titusville, PA facility. Jeff can easily be described as humble and coachable. He embraces change, is driven and always willing to get involved in difficult decisions. Jeff embodies the company’s values, always making decisions based on the business tenets.
He has successfully coached, led by example and taught others in his team so successfully that nine promotions in the last three years have been members of his team. The culture in his work group is such that new spots are often filled by referrals. It’s a clear sign that people on his team like what they do since they recommend others to apply. Under Jeff’s leadership, Titusville and Reagan’s Ridge have achieved a fine year, sending half of the RSSRs and two managers to President’s Circle.
2018 George H. Leef Award
The George H. Leef Award honors the founder of the Leef Bros in 1908, which then spun off into what became ITU in 1930. He served as president from 1930 – 1965. The award goes to an ITU AbsorbTech employee who exemplifies the “can do” attitude of entrepreneurship, a characteristic that is crucial to our long term success.
This year’s George H. Leef Award goes to Jenny Mazoch.

(David Leef, Jenny Mazoch, Jim Leef)
Jenny Mazoch is a Shift Supervisor with 25 years of experience at the New Berlin, WI facility. She began her career with ITU AbsorbTech mending garments before moving to the washroom team, then to a lead for SorbIts® before her promotion to a supervisor.
She is a great leader in both the highly documented ISO world and the world of perpetual change. In ITU AbsorbTech plants, Lean projects and 6S principles are a means for achieving continuous improvement and Jenny is successful in guiding these projects. She is also been instrumental in the development of our corporate
HACCP program.
Jenny is a strong supervisor for her team, which remained accident-free in 2018. She is a trusted leader
who always does the right thing for ITU AbsorbTech.
