ITU AbsorbTech Partners with Coats for Kids
Coats for Kids
As temperatures drop in the Midwest, staying warm becomes a priority. Unfortunately, not everyone has access to proper cold-weather gear, which is why ITU AbsorbTech is proud to support Coats for Kids once again this year.
For 20 years, we have partnered with Coats for Kids to collect, launder, and deliver new and gently used coats to children in need in the Milwaukee area to keep them safe in these unpredictable winter months.
ITU AbsorbTech’s Role
Members of our team (Renee, Audrey, Tracy, Jenny, and Roger) were up bright and early for the phone drive held on November 13th. Thanks to their efforts and the generosity of our community, the campaign raised $53,068, enough to provide approximately 2,123 new winter coats for children in need.
After the campaign concludes on December 1st, our team will step in once more to handle the laundering of all coats collected. With our state-of-the-art facility, we’re able to process coats on an industrial scale, which allows us to get the job done quickly and efficiently. One industrial washing machine in our facility can handle around 900 pounds of laundry at once, which is about 100 times the capacity of a home washer.
Our automated wash aisle allows us to thoroughly clean all donated coats in just a couple of days—a task that would take someone at home roughly four loads daily for three months!
Not only does this process save time, but it’s also environmentally friendly. Our operations use about 25% less water than even the most efficient home washing machines.
